Five minutes with Superbaby

"Oh what a wonderful nap. I just love sleeping in my bouncer."
"Who woke me up? Oh. Hi mom."
"Hold up! This lady is pretty funny! I think I'll flash her a smile, just to make her day."
"Ok, I'm done. Time to eat. Feed me!"
What can I say? He appears to be a bit tempermental. Talk about a mood swing!

Put me in the Zoo

We had a great day at the zoo with Grandma Wall. The weather was beautiful and we got to see a lot of the animals up close. However, the highlight of the afternoon seemed to be the great big tree, just perfect for taking pictures.

Supergirl is Four!

Earlier this month we celebrated Supergirl's 4th birthday. We just did a simple home party this year with our family, and had a lot of fun. Here are some pictures from the day.

And more princesses...
As you can tell she loves her princesses and I predict we will be having a princess birthday party for the next 3 years at least...

On Supergirl's real birthday we went to lunch as a family at the Rainforest Cafe. Supergirl loves this place, especially when the rain storms come.

We had a cool table right by the fountain...drowns out the noise of the kids...

One Month

Hello everyone! Sorry about the lack of new posts, but we sure are busy at our house!
Super baby is just the sweetest thing and is growing so fast. He still has lots of hair, and is still sleeping a lot. As the weeks have passed it is fun to discover the little things that make superbaby unique. His hair is so much lighter than the others. During the few hours he is awake, it is also easy to see that Superbaby is going to have blue eyes. He is our first one, which is pretty neat. They are steely-blue/grey right now, and are not showing any sign of going dark chocolate like his siblings'. Here are some pictures of the little man at 4 weeks old.

One Week Old

Superbaby is one week old already! He is a very calm and sweet baby, who rarely cries and loves to cuddle up on our chests. He doesn't do much, but that is just the way we like it.

Superbaby is a BOY!!

After all the mystery surrounding this baby, he surprised us right until the end. We were almost certain that this little baby was going to be a girl, but we were both wrong. We gave birth to a beautiful BABY BOY Monday morning.

Here is a quick condensed birth story and some pictures too. He is a good mix of both Supergirl and Superboy. He is not as hairy as they were (no hair on the ears or back, or forehead in Superboy's case). His hair is the lightest of the three, with some of it looking almost a light brown/blonde along the hairline. He has the same dark gray/brown eyes as the other two though. His skin also seems like it may be a bit more fair than the other two, since he seems more red. But, so much changes, it will be interesting to see what characteristics he keeps and what things will be uniquely his own.

The Story: On Sunday, May 11th, I had contractions for a few hours throughout the afternoon and got very excited, thinking that Superbaby would be born on Mother's Day. What a great gift that would have been! However, around 8pm they completely stopped. I did wake up a few times during the night with contractions, but they were never followed by more, so I would just go back to sleep. At 3:30 am I had a really strong one that was followed by another 10 minutes later, and then another. The next few were in the 7-8 minute range, and were VERY painful and long. We decided this was the real thing and called up Aunt R to come to the house so we could leave. Even at this point they weren't much closer than 7 minutes.
We arrived at the hospital at 5 am, and I almost started to lose hope because a few of the contractions became very spaced out again. The nurse checked me into triage to monitor the contractions for a bit. They were so strong, and Superdad was an incredible support to me during this time, since I had not yet been given any pain medicine. The nurse checked my progress and didn't feel that the baby was too close to being born since he was still up rather high, and I was still measuring small enough. I think it gave her a false sense of security...and time.

When we got to the birthing room the nurse let me know that the anesthesiologist was on his way to give me an epidural, and that she needed me to just sit on the side of the bed. Here is where everything went crazy! I had just turned to sit when i was hit with a strong contraction and my water broke everywhere! I immediately felt Superbaby ready to come out. The nurse told me that his head was crowning and that I would need to push him out with the next contractions. I was completely in shock and panicked. I wasn't mentally prepared to have a natural labor and was really scared. I didn't think I could do it. There was a midwife available so she ran into the room along with a L/D resident. The nurses were flying around me like bees.

Superdad was incredible. I was starting to lose control and he kept pulling me back, making me focus on him and helping me to breath and push. I pushed during the next contraction and he told me he saw the baby's head. The next contraction came very quickly and after what seemed like forever, I pushed Superbaby out. He was placed directly onto my tummy and was allowed to stay on me for well over an hour. It was an absolutely incredible experience. There was no rush to clean him, weigh him, and take him from me. Superdad, baby and I were able to just cuddle and spend those very first precious moments as just the three of us. Honestly it was the best I could have hoped for.

So, despite the craziness of it all, and thinking that I was going to die (ha ha...but really there were a few moments there...) the birth was perfect. I don't know that I'll volunteer for another natural birth, but considering how quick this one was, and how nice my recovery was, you never know... Here are Superbaby's stats as well. Labor began at 3:30 am and he was born at 6:13 am. He weighed 8lbs5oz, was 20 inches long with a 14 inch head.

An hour after being born. Looks like a cute wrinkly old man...

Superboy is just so cute right now!

These are from the last few days. Just thought I would share :)
Loves to laugh. And yes, the kid already has 16 teeth. It has been a drooly few months.
The "cheese" face. Whenever he sees a camera, this is what he does, and says, "chee".
The bellybutton, or as Superboy would say, "Bellbutt". Of course, once he finds his own, he wants to find yours too, so look out!
The backpack. Oh he just loves wearing this pack around the house and pushing the stroller. He loves to mimick his big sister. Sometimes even baby gets to take a ride.
Ready to roll!

bellies

It would appear that I really like my white shirt, and well...I do!

38 weeks (almost done!)

Happy Anniversary

Well, today is a doozy of a day, not only is it Mother's Day, but it is also our 6 year anniversary. I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by. I love Superdad so much, and I can not wait for the next 6 years to see what adventures lie ahead of us. We've finished school, (almost) have had 3 babies, moved states, changed jobs, and fallen even deeper in love.

So, this post is for my eternal sweetheart. Love you!

Our wedding day. The most beautiful May 11th ever. The sun was shining all day long!

35 weeks

I am feeling done right about now. Here is the latest installment of "watch me get bigger". The baby really popped over the last few weeks, and I definitely look 9 mos along now. I predict the baby will be here in 3 weeks. I hope I'm right!
