Six Month Check-Up

Today Superboy had his 6 month checkup. He is a 50/50 kid with his height (26.5 in) and weight (18 lbs 10 oz) both in the 50%. It is nice that he isn't growing into a giant, like I thought he was going to. Our doctor said that everythign looks great.

Superboy has really taken to eating baby food. He loves bananas and sweet potatoes especially. He has tried a sippy cup a few times, but only seems to get water on accident. He even tried a few cheerios today and really liked them. I am very excited for this next stage, he is so much fun to play with.

Supergirl however has become quite a handful (both good and bad). It is interesting that she can be so fun, engaging, inquisitive and creative, and then turn into a stubborn, bossy, exhausting preschooler! I am learning to embrace her independence and am realizing that she is going to be a strong, determined person. I know that this phase too shall pass. She isn't so bad, but I am honestly beginning to think that the "terrible two's" will have nothing on Supergirl's 3's.

Getting Around

Superboy popped up onto his knees today. Of course, I couldn't catch it with the camera, but I sure tried. He scoots backwards really well now, and I will often find him tangled up in a chair, or with both legs stuck under the couch. He pivots in circles on his tummy to get to what he wants. It is fun to see him making so many advances and becoming more grown up, but at the same time I can't believe that my "baby" is getting so close to crawling.
edit 5/22: I finally got pictures of Superboy's newest trick. He first popped up and held it on Sunday. All day yesterday he was on his knees, either rocking or scooting backwards. Last night he got up on his toes and hands looking like a tent. Aack! He is growing up so much.

Time Flies

Yesterday we took Superboy to get his first studio pictures taken. I can not believe that he is already 6 months old. Where did the time go? As you can see he is a ham-ball and he knows how to turn it on for the camera.

I'm wondering if I should have left his diaper on for the naked pictures. They are a bit risque, but we wouldn't have seen the three rolls on his tummy! And I should mention that he loves being naked! Oh well, I guess he can be upset with me for them when he's older.
Poor kid, no dignity!

Swim swim swim

We had another beautiful day here in Seattle and Supergirl really wanted to go swimming. Superboy sat around in a pool floatie while our Little Mermaid splashed around. It was a great afternoon!

Sweet Sunshine

The Sunshine has finally found Seattle and we've been trying to get outside as much as possible, much to Supergirl's joy!

Yesterday we went walking along the Cedar River in downtown Renton. We found a great paved pathway that led us all the way to the Boeing airport. Supergirl enjoyed pointing out the airplanes to us, and reminding us that she went on an airplane. We are reminded almost daily that she "went high, high". On our way back down the river path we stopped at a really nice park in the city. Superboy was excited to stretch his legs and get out of the stroller. It really was a terrific evening. I hope that we have many more like it.

Today we were able to go to the Woodland Park Zoo. It was the perfect day to go out and look at the animals.

Two front teeth

Superboy cut his bottom two teeth this week, four days apart. Now that is hard work!

A perfect day

Mom and Gomo sent us the most beautiful hanboks from Korea before Mom left for Germany. They are absolutely gorgeous and I feel so lucky to have such a beautiful piece of Korean culture for Supergirl and Superboy. Taking advantage of a rare sunny day, we took the kiddos to the Rose Garden beside the Woodland Park Zoo to take a few pictures. Of course the roses weren't blooming, but I think we got some great shots anyway!

Fun in the sink

Supergirl is becoming such a big kid. She loves to help us at home, and to do "grown up" things. Today she wanted to help with the dishes. I gave her a sink of cups, plates and other fun kitchen stuff, a little soap and a scrubber. Supergirl played in the sink for almost an hour washing, splashing, squirting and pouring. I love watching her learn!
