One year ago today Superboy Sargent was born at the bright and early time of 2:50 am. He weighed 8 lbs 11 oz and was 21 inches long. I had wanted him out for a week, but he must have been very comfortable in there. Labor was quick and fast, and honestly kind of exciting. He is just the dearest sweetest baby ever and I can't imagine my life without him! Here is the birth story I wrote down a few days after he was born.
Oh my goodness it happened so fast!! My first big cx hit at 8:15pm during an exciting episode of Survivor and they were 10/11 min apart. Over the next hour they got down to 7, back up to 10, and then down to 7 again. They were so strong, and sharp and much more intense than any I remember from dd's birth. Not so much in my back, but in front and low, and also in my thighs. At 11 pm, when we were at 7 min apart, i told john that we are not waiting until i am 5 minutes apart, that i needed to get the epidural :)
So, while on the freeway they increased to 5 min apart, and in the ER check in they increased to 3 min apart and once I am wheeled to my room, they are 2 minutes apart.. I get in my room, the nurse checks me and I am at a 7 and 100% effaced...IN THREE HOURS!! She said that my bag was bulging and that it was the only thing keeping him in. They were still coming really strong and increase to 2/3 min. The nurses are calling in the doctors, and ordering the delivery table, paging the anethesiologist to hurry up. It was very intense. As the anesth. was doing the epidural I wanted to bear down and push..but the epi helped with that. Right after I got my epi the doctor checked me again and I was at a 9 (after being there for 40 min) and my cervix was completely gone. They had me lay there for an hour so that he could desend a lot on his own, so I wouldn't have to push as much. I pushed through 4 cx's and he was out!! The whole process happened so quickly.
He was born at 2:55 am, Friday the 10th of November. He weighed 8lbs 11 oz and is 20 inches long. He has black hair and tons of it!! It is a little wavy right now, but we'll see if that sticks around. No jaundice, which is such a relief after sister's whole ordeal with it. He is PERFECT!! He nurses like a pro (which i am also relieved about)
He is cuddly, covered in deep dimples, chubby cheeks and has and adorable laugh. He loves his sister, daddy and mom, and will eat anything. Here are some of my favorite pictures from this year. Happy Birthday Superboy!
